10 random ways you can tell I'm getting old....

1. i used to stay up until 3am like it was no big deal. now im lucky if i make it past 10:30pm, and even if i try my hardest, it's almost physically impossible to make it to midnight.



2. i actually choose to go to the early service at church.



3. i'm going on a "business trip" next week......missouri. plane. hotel. rental car. and by myself. who am i??

4. i got way too excited this month when my electricity bill was only $39.

5. i use the phrase "back in the day" referring to things that happened in college.

6. i love watching documentaries. thank you, netflix. don't judge.

7. my mind has finally switched from thinking about time in the form of semesters and is now thinking through life based on an actual calendar year.

8. my friends are having babies. not just family, but friends...that are my age. having babies.

9. i get stressed when i think about the amount of miles i've put on my car over the past 2 years. lame, i know.

10. i just realized that this post about being old also makes me sound quite lame...which in turn, is another random way you can tell i'm getting old...

random reasons why i LOVED my vacation....

1. levi's first bday party! the party was a rockstar theme, and let me tell you...he was sure a rockstar - blue mohawk and all! my camera broke halfway through his party so I dont have any pictures at the moment, but when it is fixed, i will surely post one!

2. i was able to have breakfast with my dear friend ashley (i would put a link to her blog here if i knew how...) and finally got to meet her little girl!! our time together never disappoints. a year is way too long to go without seeing eachother!!

3. picture taking with this little man at the pumpkin patch....i dont think he could be any cuter if he tried...

4. COLORADO to visit one of my best friends. such a sweet time together and can we just talk about how beautiful colorado is?? the weather was perfect and the mountains were amazing!

5. flying. airports. airplanes. i love everything about traveling in the air. i love it for many reasons. one of the many reasons being that airports are GREAT people watching places. love it.

6. having a full 7 days without having to think about work!! im going to pay for it next week, but it was completely worth it!

7. haircut! its nothing drastically different, but the length was driving me crazy so i was very happy to finally have time to go get some inches chopped off!

8. lazy sunday. even though my vacation was fantastic, there wasn't much time for relaxing. so on my last day of vacation, that's exactly what i did...relax... in a hoodie (not that it's cold outside, but it sure is comfortable), watching Friends, reading a book, and drinking chai.

Random things to ponder...

1. Beds. why do they make them so darn comfortable? Comfortable beds are not very conducive to getting up in the morning....which we all have to do every day of our lives.



2. Weather. texas weather to be exact. it has been beautiful outside lately...but i'm not getting my hopes up of it staying around, because knowing Texas...it could be back to 100 degrees in 2 days.



3. October. just sit on that one for awhile. is it really october already??



4. Time. time is weird. you can be thinking of a certain moment and it can feel like it happened yesterday, while at the same time feel like it was a million years ago. how is that even possible?



5. Pregnancy. i've been around a lot of pregnant ladies over the last 2 yrs. several family members. several friends. several co-workers. so i have learned a lot of the ins and outs of being pregnant, body changes, giving birth, etc. i know a lot of women find pregnancy great...but right now, it just creeps me out a little. dont judge...i'm just being honest here.

Random thoughts from the last month and a half...

So i havent been great about keeping up with this blog, but to take it back to its roots...here is just a plain ol' list of random thoughts...



1. it has been SO freakin hot lately! now, if i were getting a tan out of this deal, i might not be as annoyed. however, i havent been able to be in the sun all that much so im still white and ready for winter. i mean seriously, 11 days and counting of tempatures over 100 and there is no end in sight. i say that's a little excessive.



2. its hard working in adoptions and not wanting to adopt EVERY single child. if i turn up with 10 kids in the near future, know to blame it on the job...



3. i have 8 more days of vacation for the year, so i picked a random week in October to take off work. it would be an understatement to say that i was excited about a week off. there are about 1,302 things i want to do and about 3,201 places i want to travel to that week. somehow i dont think i will get to all of them....i guess i will have to settle for a select few!



4. grad school or no grad school? that is the question.



5. God's love - just think on it and it will blow your mind.

I might be biased, but....

24 random thoughts in honor of turning 24...

1. i need a massage (okay...maybe I'm using the word 'need' instead of the word 'want'...). I could easily become addicted to massages. my bank account would not survive that.

2. i really want to travel. i just need to find a way to do this with a full time social work job. key phrases: 'full time' and 'social work'....neither one is conducive to the time and money that is needed to travel.

3. speaking of social work...read in an article online that a social work degree is the worst paying degree you can get. awesome. good thing i'm not doing it for the money, but it sure doesn't help to pay off those school loans!

4. i've been staying up unsually late over the last couple weeks...who am i?

5. i was able to see Wicked twice while it has been in dallas...can we say amazing?? loved it!!

6. i've been really interested in reading books about Mother Teresa lately. I have to admit that I hardly know anything about her. just when I was about to get a book to read , my sweet friend Tabitha gave me a book about her for my birthday. didn't even know that i had been interested in reading about her. the book is good!

7. when did i actually start liking coffee...instead of just drinking it to stay awake??? i always swore that would never happen...

8. i randomly picked up my high school year books the other day and decided to take a quick look...wow- so long ago!! grateful for the way the Lord has changed me and worked in my life since high school.

9. it has been so freaking hot outside....

10. i have to decide by Friday if I'm going to stay in my apartment and sign a new lease or move somewhere else. i hate making grown up decisions.

11. i heard a celine dion song on the radio a couple days ago. she was the first concert i ever went to in 5th grade. thats right....i rocked out to celine dion. dont judge. you know youre jealous.

12. this time of year I always consider changing jobs and becoming a teacher so that I could have summers off. After about 2 seconds I remember that I would be a horrible teacher, and that's why i didnt become a teacher in the first place.

13. it's amazing to see the Lord answer prayers in just a short amount of time....some in just a matter of hours. he is faithful.

14. why don't bathrooms have ceiling fans? i always get super hot when I try to blow dry and straighten my hair right after taking a shower. ceiling fans in the bathroom should be a no-brainer.

15. why do weekends have to be so short? i could really enjoy 3 day weekends more often. just saying.


Well, I didnt quick make it to #24..but over half way is good enough for now!!

1. staying up real late on a sunday night to prolong the weekend (which is exactly what I'm doing right now...)
2. reading outside on my balcony when the weather is beautiful
3. new music
4. waking up without an alarm clock
5. criminal minds marathons
6. knowing that i have people in my life that i know will be lifelong friends. no doubt about it.
7. NBC (mainly because it's the only channel i get...kind of have to learn to love it...)
8. 4 day weekends (yay for this weekend!!)
9. experiencing the Lord's love
10. my 2 precious little nephews
11. family time during the summer - pool volleyball!
12. pedicures and massages....just wish i had the money to get these all the time!
13. friends, people, conversations, music, and books that bring me closer to the Lord
14. low-key nights just hanging out with friends
15. netflix...why you ask? refer to number 7.
16. laughing so hard that i cry
17. so you think you can dance...thursday!
18. jamba juice!
19. half price books - got a book for $1 today!
20. waking up in the middle of the night to a thunderstorm. weird i know.

So obviously this blog is off to a great start...oh wait, no it's not. :) I guess I will make the name of my blog semi-legit with a post of ...you guessed it....random thoughts.


1. I've never been a fan of change, and by not a fan, I mean I've always hated it. However, I know that change is not bad, and is actually necessary in most cases. I'm slowly learning to be okay with change...and even possibly embrace it. It's a work in progress :)


2a. I want to travel. now.
2b. Possible trips in May and June are in the works. This makes me VERY excited.


3. Whoever invented Pandora is a genuis. It helps me get through the work day.


4. I love all the different ways that Lord speaks to us. One of my favorites?? Music. I will forever remember certain songs that have spoken to me during different points in my life. I love listening to a song and feeling like it took my thoughts right out of my head or it was written directly for me at that particular moment.


5. I really need to start reading only one (possibly two) books at a time. This whole three or four book thing is just not cutting it.


6. Who would have thought that I would be writing more in the real world than I did in college?? I always hated writing papers and now I have to write more than I ever did in school....lame.


7. 11pm has officially become "late" for me. I never thought I would see this day come, but it indeed has. And I'm okay with it. I think.


8. Working in social services has been one of the hardest thing I've probably ever had to do. I've seen and heard things that most people could not have even imagined. Even though it's been extremely hard and I have had to stop myself from quitting numerous times, I'm grateful for the opportunity to experience these things. It's broken my heart for the Lord's children and people like never before and has opened my eyes to levels of pain and hurt that I did not know existed.


9. I moved in December and I still haven't completely finished unpacking. This is tragic.


10. I still don't know how to make this blog look interesting. Sorry about that..but considering I've had this for awhile and this is my only post, it probably doesn't really matter.


I know this is a lame post...but, that's all I got for now!

I have quite a few friends and family that are what you call "bloggers," so I thought I would jump on board and see how it goes. I can't promise to post all that often...but, we will see what happens. :)
